Where the listing disagrees with itself

The title and bullets say 42 pounds. The item weight field says 39.6 pounds, and the product details line says 39.68 pounds. The listing does not say which figure is the shipped weight. Check the carton label before you set up a recurring order, because the weight you pay for should match the carton you receive.

Who this suits, and who should skip it

The listing describes a scented, clumping, multi-cat litter sold in one large carton. It suits a home that wants that format and is comfortable with a scent. Skip it if:

Your cat prefers unscented litter. Cornell says “Most cats prefer unscented litter.”
You need an ingredient list. The listing says “Ingredients: NA.”
You need a litter that the seller names for an automatic box. The listing does not name one. Its usage directions describe scooping by hand.

How we chose

The keyword “scoop away cat litter 42 lbs” returned several Scoop Away and other litter listings on Amazon. The criteria were: the listing had to match the 42 pound size in its title, and it had to be opened and read on 2026-10-19. One listing met that test: Scoop Away Complete Performance, Scented Cat Litter, 42 Pounds (ASIN B08VGWNPPB). A second 42 pound listing, Scoop Away Complete Performance Plus, Clumping Cat Litter, Fresh Scent, 42 Pound, appeared in the search results but was not opened, so this post does not describe it. We did not use prices, ratings, review counts, badges or customer review text.

What we could not verify

The listing does not say which litter box the product suits.
The listing says “Low dust formula” but gives no dust measurement or test method.
The “10 day odor control guaranteed” line does not say what the guarantee covers or how to claim it.
The listing does not give an ingredient list (“NA”), so the only material fact is the material type, clay.
The sources we opened do not cover how this product performs in any particular box or home.

Checklist before you buy

Check the weight on the carton against the listing’s 42 pound and 39.6 pound figures.
Decide whether a scent is wanted. Cornell says most cats prefer unscented litter, and if you switch brands, do so gradually: “adding small amounts of new litter to the old.” Cornell’s adoption guide adds: “Scent strongly influences where cats eliminate.”
Count your boxes. Cornell says to “Keep as many litter boxes as cats in the house – plus one.” Its adoption guide says the number of litterboxes should be “equal to the number of cats you have plus one.”
Match the box to the cat. Cornell says “Larger cats need bigger boxes.”
Keep the listing’s warnings in mind. The listing says to wash hands after handling used cat litter.

Mistakes to avoid

Buying on the carton number alone. The listing gives 42 pounds in the headline and 39.6 pounds in the item weight field.
Assuming the scent is neutral. The listing says “Fresh Clean scent,” and Cornell says most cats prefer unscented litter.
Using it as a traction aid. The listing says “Do not use this product as a traction aid because product becomes slippery and slick when wet.”
Reading the odor guarantee as a health claim. The listing’s guarantee is about odor. For any health question about your cat, ask your vet.
Switching litter all at once. Cornell says to switch gradually, adding small amounts of the new litter to the old.
