Best Tofu Litter

The best tofu litter depends on three things: whether you want pure tofu or a blend with bentonite, whether your box is manual or automatic, and how much litter one pack really holds. This guide compares five tofu litter listings from the first results for tofu litter, read on Amazon.com on 22 October 2026. Two of the five are blends with bentonite, one names automatic-box compatibility, and two say outright that their litter does not suit most automatic boxes or is not recommended for them. The pack totals below check each listing’s own weight figures.
Quick answer
- Two of the five listings are blends. PETKIT combines tofu and bentonite, and HONEY CARE combines bean husks and bentonite. Tuft and Paw, Lady N and pidan describe tofu litter.
- Check the automatic box first. Lady N says its mini-pellets are designed for automatic boxes, pidan says it is not recommended for them, and Tuft and Paw says it does not work with most of them.
- Compare packs by total weight, not by bag count. The bag weights times the counts give 18.5 lb for Tuft and Paw, 18 lb for Lady N, 15.87 lb for PETKIT, 10.6 lb for pidan and 24 lb for HONEY CARE.
- For flushing, PETKIT says not to flush too many clumps at once, and pidan says to flush small amounts in batches.
How we chose
We searched Amazon.com for “tofu litter” and read the first six results on 22 October 2026. Those six were Tuft and Paw, a PETKIT mixed litter, Lady N, PETKIT Clump+, pidan and HONEY CARE. We opened five of them and stopped there. We did not open the PETKIT mixed litter, which is in the same brand family as the Clump+ pick. Lower on the page, we did not open a Zutto Nyan 4 in 1 mix or a Romod tofu and bentonite blend. We kept listings that describe a tofu or tofu-based cat litter, that give a bag weight and a count, and that name a box type or a use rule. We did not use prices or buyer feedback, and the listings were not ranked by either.
The five listings side by side
The table uses only figures each listing states. “Not stated” marks a cell where the text we read is silent.
| Listing | Litter type (as stated) | Bag weight x count | Package weight (product details) | Automatic-box note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tuft and Paw, 9.25 lb x 2 | Tofu pellets with charcoal | 9.25 lb x 2 | 19 lb | Does not work with most automatic boxes |
| Lady N, 9 lb x 2 | Tofu mini-pellets | 9 lb x 2 | 18 lb | Designed for automatic self-cleaning boxes |
| PETKIT Clump+, 5.29 lb x 3 | Tofu and bentonite blend | 5.29 lb x 3 | 15.6 lb | Not stated |
| pidan, 5.3 lb x 2 | 100 percent tofu (variant table) | 5.3 lb x 2 | 10.6 lb | Not recommended for automatic boxes |
| HONEY CARE, 6 lb x 4 | Bean husks and bentonite | 6 lb x 4 | 24 lb | Not stated |
The table separates two questions that are easy to mix up. The first is what the litter is made from, which the blend column answers. The second is whether the listing says it works in your box. Only Lady N gives a clear yes for an automatic box, and two listings say no or not recommended. Read the automatic-box column before you compare any other column.
Pack weight: the arithmetic
A pack’s total weight is the bag weight times the number of bags. The check below compares that product with the package weight each listing gives in its product details.
- Tuft and Paw: 9.25 x 2 = 18.5 lb of bags, against a listed package weight of 19 lb. The gap is 19 – 18.5 = 0.5 lb.
- Lady N: 9 x 2 = 18 lb, which matches the listed 18 lb.
- PETKIT: 5.29 x 3 = 15.87 lb of bags, against a listed package weight of 15.6 lb. The gap is 15.87 – 15.6 = 0.27 lb, in the other direction.
- pidan: 5.3 x 2 = 10.6 lb, which matches the listed 10.6 lb.
- HONEY CARE: 6 x 4 = 24 lb, which matches the listed 24 lb.
Three listings match exactly. Tuft and Paw and PETKIT differ by a fraction of a pound, and the listings do not say why. Packaging is one possible reason, but the listings do not state it. For buying, the weight you carry home is the listed package weight, and the bag figures are the way each pack is sold.
A second arithmetic check helps with a single box. If a pan needs a fixed depth, the litter needed is the depth times the box floor area. The HONEY CARE listing gives a pour depth of 3 inches, and the pidan listing gives 2 to 2.5 inches, so a 20 by 15 inch pan takes 20 x 15 x 3 = 900 cubic inches at 3 inches and 20 x 15 x 2 = 600 cubic inches at 2 inches. That is a 50 percent difference in volume, which is 900 / 600 = 1.5 times as much litter. The listings do not state the pan size, so this is an example for your own box, not a listing figure.
What each listing says
Tuft and Paw, 9.25 lb x 2
The listing says:
- Tofu cat litter made with highly absorbent soybean byproduct. It clumps quickly and breaks down in water.
- Screened three times for dust during manufacturing. The pellet shape is designed to reduce sticking to paws.
- Flushable, with a small amount of liquid causing clumping and a large amount causing breakdown.
- Charcoal is added for odor control. No artificial fragrances or dyes, according to the bullets.
- Technical details: weight per bag 9.25 lb; ingredients soybean fiber, corn starch, corn flour, guar gum and charcoal; unopened bags last 24 months from production.
- Product dimensions 4 x 12.6 x 17 inches, 19 pounds, model RGCL.
The ingredients line matters if you want tofu alone. Corn starch and corn flour are listed with the soybean fiber, and the bullets describe the litter as tofu. For the litter types that sit next to tofu on the shelf, see Types of Cat Litter.
Lady N, 9 lb x 2
The listing says:
- Mini-pellets designed for automatic self-cleaning boxes. The bullets say it works with most automatic boxes.
- Strong clumping and ultra absorbent. Activated charcoal and natural probiotics are added for odor control, according to the bullets.
- Reduces sticking to the liner, although the listing says occasional sticking may still occur on older or heavily used liners.
- Low dust with reduced tracking. The listing says some tracking may occur because of the fine granular size.
- Product dimensions 12 x 9.2 x 7.3 inches, 18 pounds, model MA095. Material is listed as tofu, and the scent is unscented.
Lady N is the only listing that gives a clear yes for an automatic box. The sticking and tracking notes are candid, and they are useful when you compare it with a pellet that claims no tracking at all. The variant we read was two 9 pound bags, so the 18 pound total in the table is the pack this page describes. For odor control between changes, see Best Cat Litter Box for Odor Control.
PETKIT Clump+ mixed litter
The listing says:
- Upgraded mixed cat litter that combines tofu litter and bentonite litter.
- Enriched with zeolite, activated carbon, deodorants and diatomite, according to the bullets.
- Clumps in 3 seconds, and the non-stick feature is said to reduce residue on the base.
- Low tracking and 99.9 percent dust free, after seven stages of dust removal.
- Water flushable, with a warning not to flush too many clumps at one time.
- Package dimensions 10.24 x 8.31 x 7.68 inches, 15.6 pounds, model 6973293806755.
PETKIT is the one blend in this group that gives the most additives by name. It is not a tofu-only litter, and the listing says so. Its clump speed is a stated figure, and its flush warning is one of the few direct instructions in the set. For the box-cleaning side of a blend, see Best Way to Clean Litter Box.
pidan 2 pack
The listing says:
- The variant table lists this 2 pack as 100 percent tofu litter. The bag weight is 5.3 pounds, with two bags per pack.
- Plant-based, with pea, corn and cassava named in the bullets. The clumping bullet also names soy and pea pulp fiber with cassava-wheat-corn starch.
- Fast clumping and anti-tracking pellets, with a resistance to dusting named in the bullets.
- Product limitation: a large urine output can make the clumps soft. The listing says to fill 2 to 3 inches of litter, and the description gives 2 to 2.5 inches for optimum use.
- The description says the product is not recommended for automatic cat litter boxes and says to flush small amounts in several batches.
- Ingredients: bean dregs, starch and guar gum. Package dimensions 10.2 x 8.7 x 6.9 inches, 10.6 pounds, model PD1611M1X2.
pidan is the only pure-tofu listing that says outright it should not go in an automatic box. Its ingredients line is short and clearly tofu-based. The clumping limit is a clear caution for a cat that urinates heavily in one spot, and the depth guidance is useful when you set up the box. For the litter types that compare with tofu, see Scoopable Cat Litter: What One Listing Says.
HONEY CARE Petrichor Mix
The listing says:
- Made from bean husks, which the listing calls the same ingredients as tofu, and bentonite clay. The listing describes it as a tofu cat litter mix.
- Pellets are 2 millimeters, and the listing says the low-dust formula keeps paw prints down.
- Vacuum-sealed package. The listing says it releases a jasmine scent on contact with cat urine.
- Directions: pour to a depth of 3 inches. The listing recommends changing the litter completely every 3 to 4 weeks.
- Package dimensions 16.77 x 10.67 x 6.69 inches, 24 pounds, model A17. The title gives 6 pound bags, four to a pack.
HONEY CARE is the largest pack in this group by weight, and its 3 to 4 week change interval is the only change rate stated in the group, so it is the only listing where the pack can be checked against a schedule. Its figures describe the blend, not a pure tofu pellet, so do not carry them over to the tofu-only listings. For a broader look at blends, see Kitty Litter Systems: What One Listing Says.

Buying checklist
- Decide between tofu only and a blend. Pick pidan or Tuft and Paw for tofu alone, or PETKIT or HONEY CARE for a bentonite blend.
- Check the automatic box before you order. Lady N says it is designed for automatic self-cleaning boxes; pidan says not recommended; Tuft and Paw says it does not work with most.
- Compare the listed package weight, not only the bag size. The totals in the arithmetic section show how each pack adds up.
- Measure your pan depth before you order. The depth you choose sets how much of the pack one box will use, and the depth figures in the listings differ.
- Plan for flushing only if the listing allows it. PETKIT and pidan both give flushing instructions, and both say to flush in small amounts.
- Keep an eye on the clumps. pidan says a large urine output can make clumps soft and suggests 2 to 3 inches of litter for that case, so a cat that urinates heavily may need the deeper fill.
- If the box sits in a warm, damp room, read the storage note. Lady N’s directions say to store the litter in a cool, dry place to keep its absorbency.
- For a kitten’s box, the entry height matters more than the litter. See Best Litter Box for Kittens.
- If you want a non-clay option beyond tofu, the paper-based choices are covered in Recycled Paper Cat Litter.
Mistakes to avoid
- Assuming every tofu litter works in an automatic box. Two listings say no or not recommended, and only Lady N gives a yes.
- Treating a blend as pure tofu. Neither PETKIT nor HONEY CARE is tofu alone, and both listings say so in their own wording.
- Reading the bag size and forgetting the count. Tuft and Paw’s two bags give 18.5 pounds of bags against 19 pounds listed for the package, so the count and the total are both needed.
- Flushing too many clumps at once. PETKIT’s listing says not to, and pidan’s says to flush in batches. Both warnings come from the listing text.
- Expecting zero tracking. Lady N says some tracking may occur, and PETKIT and Tuft and Paw describe low tracking rather than none.
What we could not verify
- The listings do not give a clumping measure that a buyer can compare. Clump speed is a stated figure for PETKIT, and the other listings give no comparable number.
- Only Lady N gives an automatic-box yes, and the listing does not say which automatic models it was checked against.
- The listings do not state the depth of litter each pack needs for a given cat, so the depth examples above are for your own pan.
- The listings do not name a moisture or storage period for an opened bag beyond the storage note on Lady N and the 24 month unopened life on Tuft and Paw.
- The probiotic and additive claims are the makers’ statements. We did not check the ingredients beyond what the listings print.
- The listings do not give a dust figure that can be checked, apart from PETKIT’s 99.9 percent and pidan’s resistance to dusting.
FAQ
What is the difference between tofu litter and a tofu blend?
Tofu litter in this group is made from soybean fiber, bean dregs or bean husks, and starch. A blend adds bentonite clay. PETKIT says it combines tofu and bentonite, and HONEY CARE says bean husks and bentonite. Tuft and Paw lists soybean fiber with corn starch and corn flour. The blend changes clumping, so compare the ingredients line with the claim you care about most.
Can tofu litter go in an automatic litter box?
It depends on the listing. Lady N says its mini-pellets are designed for automatic self-cleaning boxes. Tuft and Paw says it does not work with most automatic boxes. pidan says it is not recommended for automatic boxes. HONEY CARE and PETKIT do not state automatic-box compatibility in the text we read.
How much tofu litter do I need for one box?
Use the pour depth the listing gives and the floor area of your pan. HONEY CARE says 3 inches, and pidan says 2 to 2.5 inches. For a pan of 20 by 15 inches, the volume is 20 x 15 x 3 = 900 cubic inches at 3 inches and 20 x 15 x 2 = 600 cubic inches at 2 inches. The listings do not state the pan size or the cat count, so use the figures for your own box.
Is tofu litter flushable?
Four of the five listings describe flushing in some form. Tuft and Paw says its litter is 100 percent flushable and breaks down in water. PETKIT says water flushable with a warning about too many clumps. pidan says it can be flushed directly, in small amounts, in batches. Lady N’s description says its water-soluble formula dissolves in seconds. HONEY CARE’s text does not mention flushing. None of the listings says flushing suits every plumbing system, so check your own setup.
Why does one listing give a larger pack weight than the bags add up to?
Tuft and Paw lists 19 pounds for the package, while its two 9.25 pound bags add to 18.5 pounds. PETKIT lists 15.6 pounds while its three 5.29 pound bags add to 15.87 pounds. The listings do not explain the gap. The bag figures are the sold weight, and the package weight is the figure the listing gives for the whole order.
Which one should I buy for a multi-cat home?
The listings do not rank litters for multi-cat homes. PETKIT’s bullets mention multi-cat families, and pidan’s listing says a large urine output may need a deeper fill. For box counts in a multi-cat home, see Best Cat Box for Multiple Cats. Count the bags you need for your pan depth and change interval, and use the pack weight arithmetic to compare pack totals.
Bottom line
For pure tofu in a manual box, compare pidan and Tuft and Paw on the ingredients and the depth rule. For a blend that clumps quickly, read PETKIT’s additive list and its flush warning. For an automatic drawer, Lady N is the only listing here with a stated yes, so start there and confirm the model. For the wider choice of litter types, see Types of Cat Litter and Where to Put a Litter Box.
