Best litter box for kittens

Best Litter Boxes for Kittens

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Details

A kitten needs a box it can get into easily, sized for a small body. This guide covers the low-entry, size and weight details that the listings state, and what each listing says about kittens. Where a listing says nothing about kittens, we say so. It is a product guide, not health advice, so questions about a kitten’s health belong with your vet.

Quick answer. The TENTIZON listing names kittens in its title, states a 5-inch low front entry, and has an open top. Its size label conflicts, with Small in the title and Medium in the overview, so check the dimensions before you buy. The Bsemax and the Amibud are the other two to look at. The Bsemax lists an 18-liter capacity and the Amibud is the lowest overall height in this guide. Check the current price on Amazon before you buy.

How we chose

We used two listing sets captured on 2026-10-17: the small-apartment list and the high-sides list. We kept boxes whose listing names kittens or describes a low entry, then checked each one for entry height, footprint and weight. We did not measure any box. Where two listing figures disagree, we show both and do not rank the disagreement.

Quick comparison (as stated on each listing, checked 2026-10-17)

Product Kitten wording in the listing Entry or height as stated Size (in) Weight (lb)
TENTIZON, open top Title: for kittens and medium cats 5-inch low front entry 17.3 x 13.4 x 7.8 3.7
Bsemax, with lid Bullet: suitable for kittens and newborn cats Not stated; title says low entry, bullets describe a lid 17.4 x 13.5 x 8.5 3.5
OneBug Small, pan Bullet: for kittens and small cats Raised rim; rim height not stated; overall height 3.94 15.55 x 11.61 x 3.94 1.3
Amibud Low Entry, pan Title: for kittens Overall height 2.76 (not an entry measurement) 15.75 x 11.81 x 2.76 0.9
BIKOZI Small, enclosed Bullet: gives kittens and small cats a private space Front and top entry; entry height not stated 17.3 x 13.7 x 14.9 5.69

Worked example: floor space for a kitten box

Compare a kitten-sized pan, the OneBug Small at 15.55 x 11.61 inches, with the Amazon Basics Large at 19 x 15 inches. The OneBug is 180.5 square inches, or about 1.25 square feet. The Amazon Basics is 285 square inches, or about 1.98 square feet. The larger box needs about 0.73 square feet more floor. These are plain multiplications of the listed footprints. The Amazon Basics listing says it suits older and large cats, not kittens, so it is a comparison of size only.

The five kitten picks

1. TENTIZON Stainless Steel Cat Litter Box for Kittens and Medium Cats (best kitten wording and stated entry)

Specs (from the listing, checked 2026-10-17): product dimensions 17.3 x 13.4 x 7.8 inches; weight 3.7 pounds; stainless steel pan; open top; 5-inch low front entry (bullet); grey; model PT006-GY-00. It includes a stainless pan, a high-sided lid, a hanging scoop and a dual-layer litter mat. The listing claims it suits kittens and medium cats between 3 and 14 pounds.

Pros: kittens are named in the title; the entry height is stated as a number; open top, so the kitten does not climb through a hood. Cons: the size label conflicts (Small in the title, Medium in the overview); the listing says open top but also includes a high-sided lid, and it does not explain how the lid is used; the 3 to 14 pound range is a claim we did not verify.

Best for: a kitten within the listed weight range, in a small bathroom where the listing says it fits next to the toilet or under the sink. Skip if: you need a confirmed size, or your kitten is under the listed 3-pound minimum.

2. Bsemax Stainless Steel Litter Box with Lid, Small (18-liter capacity)

Specs (from the listing, checked 2026-10-17): dimensions 17.4 x 13.5 x 8.5 inches; weight 3.5 pounds; capacity 18 liters (bullet); stainless steel with an ABS high-wall enclosure (bullet); with lid; black; includes a bottom box, a plastic upper cover, a metal scoop, a non-slip mat and a manual. The listing says it is suitable for kittens, newborn cats and small pets.

Pros: the capacity is stated; the overall height is 8.5 inches; the box weighs 3.5 pounds, so it is easy to lift for cleaning. Cons: the title describes an open top with a low entry, but the bullets describe a lid and a high-wall enclosure; one bullet says “Medium Size” while the title names small cats; no entry height is stated.

Best for: a small, lidded stainless box where you can accept an unstated entry height. Skip if: you need a confirmed low entry or an open top.

3. OneBug Stainless Steel Small Cat Litter Pan (raised rim, light to lift)

Specs (from the listing, checked 2026-10-17): dimensions 15.55 x 11.61 x 3.94 inches; weight 1.3 pounds; one-piece molded stainless steel; non-slip pads on the base; open top (bullet); model OBUS-MSP-XX-403010-1. The listing says the pan is ideally proportioned for kittens, small cats, senior pets and rabbits, and describes a low-step entry for kittens (bullets).

Pros: light at 1.3 pounds; the overall height is 3.94 inches; the base has non-slip pads. Cons: the title says High Sides, but the overall height is 3.94 inches; the rim is raised, but the listing does not state its height; there is no lid.

Best for: a kitten who will use an open pan, in a home that wants a light box to rinse. Skip if: you need a lid, or a stated rim height.

4. Amibud Low Entry Stainless Steel Litter Box for Kittens (lowest overall height)

Specs (from the listing, checked 2026-10-17): dimensions 15.75 x 11.81 x 2.76 inches; weight 14.46 ounces; metal (stainless steel per bullets); pan with no lid and no enclosure; model MSP-7. The title says Small, but the overview says Size Medium. The listing says it is suitable for kittens and small animals.

Pros: an overall height of 2.76 inches, the lowest in this guide; the box is light at 14.46 ounces; no enclosure to step over. Cons: the size label conflicts; 2.76 inches is the overall height, not a measured entry height; the listing’s comparison with 6-inch boxes is a seller claim, and it does not describe the walls beyond that height.

Best for: a kitten who needs the lowest entry in this guide, using a plain pan. Skip if: you want walls that hold litter in, or a lid.

5. BIKOZI Stainless Steel Cat Litter Box, Enclosed, Small, Dual Entry

Specs (from the listing, checked 2026-10-17): product dimensions 17.3 x 13.7 x 14.9 inches (the bullets give 17.5 x 13.5 x 14.7 inches, a conflict); weight 5.69 pounds; enclosed housing with a removable stainless steel pull-out tray; front and top entry; transparent front panel (bullet); pink; model FXMSP. It includes a scoop and a double-layer mat. The listing says the enclosed housing gives kittens and small cats a private space.

Pros: an enclosed housing with a stated kitten use; two ways in; the tray slides out for cleaning. Cons: no entry height is stated; at 14.9 inches tall it is the tallest box in this group; the two sets of dimensions conflict; at 5.69 pounds it is the heaviest kitten option here.

Best for: a kitten who will use an enclosed box, in a small home where privacy matters. Skip if: you need a stated low entry, or you prefer an open box (Cornell’s guidance says most cats prefer uncovered boxes).

Listings we checked but did not card

  • IRIS USA Small, High Sided, Scatter Shield (B0HHQWPDYK): the captured title does not contain the word kittens, but the record’s “stated for” field says kittens and small cats. Check the live listing before you rely on it. It is open top, 17.38 x 13.44 x 10.56 inches, 1.5 pounds, and its entry height is not stated.
  • Marchul Enclosed, grey (B0DXF8KP3P): a bullet says kittens can use it from childhood to old age. Its dimensions conflict in three places, so we did not card it.
  • Amazon Basics Large, IRIS USA Large, FZGhome XL, OneBug XL and BlissBlaze XXXXL (high-sides list): none of these listings gives a kitten statement. The Amazon Basics listing has a lowered front and says it suits older and large cats.

What to check before you buy

  • Entry height. Look for a stated entry measurement. Overall height is not the same as entry height, and most listings here give only the overall height.
  • Kitten wording. Find where the listing says kittens: the title, a bullet, or the specification table. Check that the bullets agree with the title.
  • Lid or open top. Cornell’s guidance says covers hold odors in from a cat’s point of view, and most cats prefer uncovered boxes. Choose the style your kitten will use.
  • Weight. The TENTIZON lists a 3-pound minimum. Other listings do not state a minimum weight for kittens.
  • Size as the kitten grows. Cornell’s guidance says large cats need bigger boxes, so check the size again as your kitten grows.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Treating overall height as entry height. The Amibud’s 2.76 inches is the overall height, and the listing does not state an entry height.
  • Assuming a small box is a low box. The Bsemax is 8.5 inches tall with a lid, and the BIKOZI is 14.9 inches tall.
  • Trusting a title over the bullets. The Bsemax title says open top, but its bullets describe a lid.
  • Reading a weight range as a tested limit. The TENTIZON’s 3 to 14 pound range is a listing claim.
  • Keeping a small box after the kitten grows. Check the size again as your cat develops.

Our decision rule

Choose the TENTIZON if you want a kitten named in the title and a stated 5-inch low entry, and you can accept the size-label conflict. Choose the Bsemax if you want a lidded box with a stated 18-liter capacity. Choose the Amibud if the lowest overall height matters most and you do not need a lid. Choose the BIKOZI if the kitten will use an enclosed box.

Who should skip this list

Skip this list if you need a box for several adult cats, since every box here is small. Skip it if your kitten has a health issue, because the listings say nothing about health and this guide gives no health advice. Ask your vet about any change in litter habits.

FAQ

Which boxes here name kittens in their listings?

The TENTIZON and the Amibud name kittens in the title. The Bsemax, the OneBug Small and the BIKOZI name kittens in a bullet. The IRIS USA Small is unclear: its captured title does not contain kittens, though its record says kittens and small cats, so check the live listing.

What entry height should a kitten box have?

Cornell’s guidance says young kittens need boxes with low sides. The TENTIZON listing states a 5-inch low front entry. The Amibud has an overall height of 2.76 inches. The Bsemax, the BIKOZI and the IRIS USA Small do not state an entry height.

Is a covered kitten box better?

Not necessarily. Cornell’s guidance says covers hold odors in from a cat’s point of view, and most cats prefer an uncovered box. The BIKOZI and the Bsemax are enclosed or lidded, so choose by how your kitten uses the box.

Does any listing say its box is not for kittens?

No. None of the eleven listings in the two source files says a box is not for kittens. Where a listing gives no kitten statement, we say so in the cards and the list above.
