Best Automatic Cat Feeders

Quick answer. Disclosure: bestcatgear.com participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and may earn a commission from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you. Check the current price on Amazon. For most owners of a dry-food cat, the PETULTRA 4L Automatic Cat Feeder is the top pick in this list. Its listing gives a 4 liter (about 16 cup) hopper, up to six meals a day, up to 20 portions per meal, a battery backup option, and a kibble size range. Its figures agree with each other across the listing. If you need a smaller box for a counter, the IMIPAW and Yuposl models have 3 liter hoppers, and the Yuposl listing claims a battery life of more than 180 days. Ask your vet how much and how often to feed your cat; none of these listings gives a feeding amount for a particular cat.

How we chose

We looked at six listings whose specifications were stated on Amazon on 2026-10-17. The criteria were:

  • Hopper capacity as the listing states it, in liters or cups.
  • Meals per day and portions per meal, and how each listing defines one portion.
  • Power: a power adapter, batteries (not included in any listing), or both.
  • Kibble size range and the food type named (dry food).
  • Footprint and weight, to check the space it needs on a counter or floor.

No listing states how a feeder performs with wet food, and none gives a feeding amount for a cat. Where a listing gives a claim, such as a battery life or a noise level, we say it is a claim.

Comparison table (as stated on each listing, checked 2026-10-17)

Product Dimensions (L x W x H, in) Weight (lb) Hopper Meals per day Portion definition on listing
PETULTRA 4L Automatic Cat Feeder (top pick) 13.58 x 7.6 x 7.6 3.59 4 L, about 16 cups Up to 6 1 portion about 1 tbsp, about 6 g; up to 20 portions per meal
VOLUAS 4L Timed Dry Food Dispenser 11 x 7 x 7 3.7 4 L, 16.9 cups 1 to 4 About 6 to 7 g; 0 to 40 portion choices
PETLIBRO Timed Dry Food Dispenser (model PLAF005) 7.9 x 7.7 x 7.6 3.09 Not stated on Amazon Up to 6 2.5 teaspoons per portion on the listing (manufacturer guide says about 20 ml; conflict, see below); 1 to 50 portions per meal
ANDOLL HOME 4L Timed Dispenser 12 x 7 x 13 3.84 4 L (title) 8 (title) Not stated
Yuposl 3L Timed Feeder 6 x 7 x 9 3 3 L (12 cups) 1 to 6 Not stated; the listing estimates up to 2 weeks of supply
IMIPAW 3L Timed Dispenser 7 x 7.01 x 11.16 2.65 3 L (12 cups) Up to 6 1 serving is 7 to 9 g; up to 20 portions per day

The PETLIBRO hopper size is not on its Amazon listing. A search result for a PETLIBRO WiFi model gave a 5 liter hopper, but we could not tie that figure to the PLAF005 listing, so we do not use it. See the conflicts section.

Worked example: how long does a 4 liter hopper last?

The PETULTRA listing says a 4 liter hopper is about 16 cups, that one cup is about 16 portions, and that one portion is about 6 g. Suppose you set 4 portions for each of 6 meals a day. That is 24 portions a day, which is 24 divided by 16, or 1.5 cups a day. Sixteen cups divided by 1.5 cups a day is about 10.7 days. This is arithmetic from the listing’s own numbers, not a feeding amount. Your vet can tell you how much food your cat needs.

Outside source: the PETLIBRO portion guide

We opened the manufacturer’s portion guide for the PETLIBRO PLAF005 model (PETLIBRO portion guide, checked 2026-10-17). It states one portion as about 20 ml, or about 1/12 cup. That does not match the Amazon listing, which says 2.5 teaspoons per portion. The same guide groups the PLAF005 with other models as a WiFi and camera feeder, while the Amazon listing describes a timed dispenser without WiFi. We did not resolve this.

Listing conflicts we did not resolve

  • PETLIBRO PLAF005: the Amazon portion (2.5 teaspoons) differs from the manufacturer guide (about 20 ml). The manufacturer guide also groups PLAF005 as a WiFi and camera feeder, while the Amazon listing describes a timed dispenser without WiFi. The Amazon details table gives 1 lithium-ion battery; the bullets say 3 D-cell batteries. We have not resolved any of these.
  • ANDOLL HOME: the title gives 8 meals a day; the listing gives no other meal count.
  • Portion size varies from one listing to the next: 6 g, 6 to 7 g, 7 to 9 g, 2.5 teaspoons and, for PLAF005 in the manufacturer guide, about 20 ml. Check the definition on the listing you buy.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Comparing portion counts without the portion size. Twenty portions of 6 g is not the same as twenty portions of 2.5 teaspoons.
  • Assuming batteries come with the feeder. Every listing in this list says the batteries are not included.
  • Assuming a power-cut backup is always available. Check which power option the listing describes for the model you buy.
  • Setting the portions yourself without asking your vet. The listings do not give a feeding amount for any cat.

Who should skip buying an automatic feeder

Skip this list if you need a feeder for wet food, because none of the six listings describes wet-food use. Skip it if your cat needs a specific diet, a set schedule for medical reasons, or food that is not dry kibble. For any question about how much to feed, or how often, ask your vet.

FAQ

How many meals a day can a feeder dispense?

The listings differ. VOLUAS gives 1 to 4 meals. PETULTRA, PETLIBRO, IMIPAW and Yuposl give up to 6. The ANDOLL title gives 8 meals a day.

Does the feeder work during a power cut?

Every listing in this list describes a battery option, and none includes batteries. The listings describe a 5V adapter plus 3 D-cell or 3 AA batteries (depending on the model). Check which batteries your model needs before you buy.

How much food does a feeder hold?

The listings give 4 liters for PETULTRA, VOLUAS and ANDOLL (the ANDOLL figure is in the title), and 3 liters for IMIPAW and Yuposl. The PETLIBRO Amazon listing does not state a hopper size.

How big is one portion?

It depends on the listing: about 6 g (PETULTRA), 6 to 7 g (VOLUAS), 7 to 9 g (IMIPAW), or 2.5 teaspoons on the PETLIBRO listing, which conflicts with the manufacturer’s guide of about 20 ml. Use the figure on the listing you buy, and ask your vet how much food your cat needs.

Which food does a feeder take?

The listings name dry food. Kibble size limits are given by PETULTRA (0.07 to 0.4 inches) and by Yuposl and PETLIBRO (2 to 15 mm).

Should I set the portions myself?

Ask your vet first. The listings do not give a feeding amount for any cat, and a feeder only dispenses what you set.
